The Band Perry — Stay In The Dark

THE BAND PERRY — "STAY IN THE DARK"
THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JIMMY FALLON

Multi-platinum group (and our friends) THE BAND PERRY released their highly-anticipated pop single "Stay In The Dark" in February 2017, and kicked off the release with an incredible performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The band are fearless and ambitious artists, and we were thrilled to help them build a performance that was equally unique, modern, and human.

The song's title and themes of intimacy and connection called for a performance that placed the artists in an environment negative space punctuated by bursts of light. Because the performance needed to feel decidedly "human", we outfitted 10 stellar dancers with customized, handheld LED lighting fixtures so that all the lighting could move with the cadence of real human touch, which we dubbed the "HUMAN LIGHTING MACHINE". All dancers were clothed in black outfits and facemasks to be largely obscured onto dark backgrounds. All production details - artist, light, dancers, and camera positioning - were choreographed to operate together. The light on the arists was at times contrasted, one-sided, or reversed, and at times created unique structures and splitting, cell-like formations behind the band.

And, Questlove from The Roots joined The Band Perry for the show to bring an amazing additional rhythmic charge to the performance!

The performance was broadcast on February 7, 2017, & garnered glowing reviews from fans and industry. The Band Perry's new single "Stay In The Dark" is available everywhere now, and the full performance is available on Jimmy Fallon's page at NBC.com.
